The January 2011 cover of Cosmopolitan featuring Twilight actress Ashley Greene, is a huge departure from the standard “2/3 body” shot that the mag is famous for. (Check out the Google image results for “Cosmopolitan cover,” and you’ll see what I mean.) The cover features 21-year-old Greene in a white button-down shirt knotted at her navel and cut-off jean shorts, and in my opinion, it couldn’t look better. It looks fresh, fun, and modern — a real shot in the arm for the brand.
Not only do I think Greene is gorgeous, I want to be her. And I think that’s been Cosmo’s goal all along with their covers. Editor in chief Kate White got some excellent feedback of her own about the new look, according to what she tweeted yesterday evening:
There is one thing I’m dying, dying, dying to know: What does Helen Gurley Brown, veteran editor of Cosmo who pioneered the 2/3-body-shot cover, think?
