Brandon Davies, star of the Brigham Young University basketball team, was suspended from the team Tuesday for having sex with his girlfriend, Danica Mendivil.
BYU says Davies violated the school’s honor code, which mandates that students live “a chaste and virtuous life.” Banned substances include alcoholic beverages, coffee, tea, illegal drugs, and tobacco. Davies was suspended for the rest of the season, but officials have not decided what his future at the school will be.
Old-fashioned it or not, BYU’s honor code is what it is, and Davies knew before he elected to go to BYU what the rules were. We’re all for sexual freedom here, but them’s the breaks. It’s actually refreshing to see an athlete not get special treatment.
What do you think? Was Davies’ punishment too harsh, or do you agree with BYU?

Um, I’m wondering how the school found out. Did the girl tell? or what he caught in action?! :/
From what I can tell so far, there are two theories: Either he felt so guilty that he confessed on his own, or someone ratted him out, as this Deadspin article suggests: http://deadspin.com/#!5775738/a-byu-grad-on-brandon-davies-sex-and-the-universitys-double-standard
