Dakota Fanning’s Perfume Ad Banned in U.K.

Looks like this Lolita homage is too racy for the Brits! The U.K. dubbed Dakota Fanning‘s ad for the Marc Jacobs fragrance Oh, Lola! ”sexually provocative” and banned it from print. (Fanning is 17.)

Britain’s Advertising Standards Association said this about the print ad:

“We understood the model was 17 years old, but we considered she looked under the age of 16…

Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and was likely to cause serious offense.”

The ad cannot legally appear again in a U.K. publication. What do you think: Is this ad offensive, or is the U.K. overreacting?

Eh, it’s a fine line. But I sure wouldn’t want my daughter doing this!
