Regular dating websites weren’t working for Whitney Thompson, plus-size model and winner of TV’s America’s Next Top Model competition in 2008, so she created her own.
Thompson’s new site, the Big and the Beautiful, is targeted at curvy ladies and the men who love them — and inspired by Thompson’s real-life dating issues, the New York Daily News reports:
“My biggest problem in online dating was that I would meet these guys and I would put on the site that I was a plus-sized model and then you know, guys wouldn’t want to date me,” she says. “But then I would just put a model and then when they met me they would be disappointed, so there was no happy medium.”
Which is why Thompson, now 24, says she set out on a crusade to ensure that other women wouldn’t feel the way she once did.
“If you’re a really tall girl or a really curvy girl and you’ve been trying to hide it all your life, instead you’re celebrating it,” she says. “Then you find a guy who likes really tall girls.”
Creepers, beware: Thompson says the site vets the men on the site based on profile and screen name to weed out any guys who fetishize bigger women. Such specialized attention isn’t free: The site’s fee is $40 per month.
More options is always a good thing! Especially in a world of one-size-fits all dating sites (so to speak).

Good post and wonderful comments.
Why create a whole new dating site, when you can use the ones already out there. Not all sites discriminate.
