Over the hill? Hardly. A new poll from over-50 online dating site OurTime.com found that a full 91 percent of single baby boomers say “regular or frequent sex is important now that they are near or over the age of 50.” And they’re not holding back about their needs.
The survey found that boomers want to talk about their desires — in some cases more now than ever before:
• 70% would be absolutely willing to talk candidly about their sexual needs and desires with their potential mate; only 1% would not be willing
• 77% feel more comfortable discussing their sexual needs and desires with their potential mate than when they were younger
• 97% feel it is important that their potential mate/partner is able to talk candidly about sex, and his or her sexual needs and desires
• 63% say communication is the most important element to having a healthy sex life
That’s a whole lotta sex talk, and we love it! But here’s a quick (but important) reminder: With rates of STDs rising in the boomer age group, amorous seniors should remember to carry condoms before stripping down — even though there’s little risk for pregnancy.
On a cheerier note, we recently reported on a study that found sex gets better with age, especially for women 40 and over. Seize the day, ladies!
