Despite the stereotypes, men aren’t the only ones who forget about Valentine’s Day. Raise your hand if you’ve ever rushed to the drugstore in a panic on V-Day afternoon to try and find a gift for your guy. (We’re guessing we’re not alone here.) Here are a few sweet, tried-and-true Valentine’s Day gifts for him that won’t cost you precious time or cash.
1. Sex Coupons
No red-blooded man won’t like a coupon for hot sex that he can redeem anytime, especially if it’s for something you know he’s into, like a lap dance or a certain sexy position. Plus, you can make the coupons by hand or print them out in a cool font from your computer (we suggest swoopy Lucida Calligraphy — it’s fancy!). Or, check out a site with coupons you can print and e-mail for free, like eLoveCoupons.
2. His Favorite Candy
Who likes candy? Everyone. It sounds a little too easy, but forgo the conversation hearts and chocolate samplers and buy him a sizable package of the candy he loves: Mike and Ikes, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups…fill in the blank. Then accompany it with a handwritten note (no typing!) that tells him exactly why you’re sweet on him this Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to use that lame pun, obviously, but if you do, he’ll probably still think it’s cute.
3. Wrap Yourself Up
Those giant bows in the Lexus commercials aren’t just for cars. Well, maybe downsize just a little bit and tie a big ol’ bow around your lingerie-clad — or totally naked — body. Hell-ooooo, nurse.
4. Mix CD
This tactic is a little ’80s, but that’s what makes it awesome: Burn him an honest-to-goodness CD with songs that make you think of him, including the first song that you ever danced to together, even if it’s Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It. He’ll love it, trust us. For a retro feel with modern-day practicality, put it all on a USB drive inside a retro cassette tape case, like the Mix Tape Memory Stick.
5. Baked Goods
When all else fails, dust off your oven and open your Betty Crocker cookbook. Bake him a batch of your chocolate chip cookies that have been known to garner rave reviews, or whip up a two-layer cake with thick frosting, just like you see in the movies. (Breakfast also works — we can vouch for this super-easy banana bread recipe.) As they say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach — but in this case, he’ll just be touched that you cared enough to make something especially for him.
