We can finally put all of that who-will-play-young-Carrie Bradshaw speculation to rest: The CW has selected actress AnnaSophia Robb to play a high school–aged Sarah Jessica Parker in the pilot of its Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries.

Robb, 18, (not to be confused with Hugh Hefner girlfriend Anna Sophia Berglund) is best known for her leading role in the 2011 film Soul Surfer and her portrayal of ornery Violet Beauregarde in the Johnny Depp remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

E! reports:

In the new hourlong dramedy, we will see Carrie in the ’80s, asking her “first questions” about love, sex and friendship. (So you know, a bit more network-appropriate given that she has yet to meet Samantha.)

The casting call described the role of Carrie as a “quirky, charming, witty 16 year old,” who unfortunately has “a complete lack of knowledge about love, sex and relationships.” Carrie will also have a growing sense of fashion, and she’s dealing with the recent loss of her mother. The Carrie Diaries will take place in Manhattan. Where else?

Here’s hoping we enjoy the show even half as much as its predecessor!
