After six kids and six years together, Brad Pitt, 48, and Angelina Jolie, 36, are engaged to be wed. Based on way they’ve talked about marriage in the past, we thought it might never happen!
Pitt teamed up with jeweler Robert Procop to design Angie’s giant emerald-cut ring — estimated to be worth around $250,000. (Ironically, the ring Brad helped design for Jennifer Aniston was worth twice that, Us Weekly reports.)
Brangelina has said for years that they’d get married when all gay and lesbian couples are allowed to legally wed, but that’s not the case in all parts of the country yet. What changed their minds? In January 2012, Brad said this about marriage to the Hollywood Reporter:
“We’d actually like to, and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”
In fact, the Jolie-Pitt kiddies actually told Brad to “get Mommy a ring!” Done and done!
