It’s almost impossible not to like the happy vibrators from Toyfriend: fashioned into bright, whimsical silicone shapes, the sex toys are adorable. Like Teletubbies. Except X-rated. And the Swedish brand has just released Pocket Toyfriends — dubbed Foxy, Zany, Nice, and Posh — which run on a AAA battery and weigh less than an ounce.
The mastermind behind these kicky toys is Eric Kalen, whom French ELLE described as “the Philippe Starck of vibrators.” The Swede co-founded one of our favorite high-end vibrator companies, LELO, in 2003 and started Toyfriend six years later. “Toyfriend is for sex-toys what H&M is for clothes,” the company says. Foremost in Kalen’s mind: the price, he says.
”Today everybody either make expensive vibrators that they want to be perceived as exclusive, or cheap products where design and quality is of no importance. Instead, I want to put design and concept in focus, and I want to do it with products that don’t consume a big part of our customers’ monthly salary.”
Which brings us to the best part: A full-size Toyfriend will run you about $25–$40 on Drugstore.com, and one of the new Pocket Toyfriends is only $22 at GoodVibes.com. Not too shabby for something so smile-inducing (in more ways than one).
