We didn’t really need academic research to tell us this, but it’s fascinating to see it spelled out: According to a study from the University of Granada, sexual fantasies tend to differ by gender, with women favoring “pleasant” sexual situations, and men preferring “exploratory” fantasies (think swinging or orgies).
The study surveyed 2,250 heterosexual Spanish people between the ages of 18 and 73 to get the findings. Here’s where the findings get interesting. The Huffington Post reports:
Nearly all of the respondents reported that they had fantasized about a “pleasant” sexual experience, while 80 percent said they had fantasized about an “unpleasant” one.
A commonly reported unpleasant sexual fantasy among the women surveyed was “being forced to have sex,” the study revealed. This fantasy had occurred at least once in most of the female participants’ lifetimes.
For men, the most commonly reported “unpleasant” sexual fantasy was a homosexual encounter.
Our favorite finding from the study: 100 percent of people had had at least one pleasant sexual fantasy in their lives. That’e everyone!
A recent poll that we reported on a few months ago named “making love in exotic locales” as the top sex fantasy, according to respondents. That one might be slightly easier to act out with your partner than the “unpleasant” fantasies, but feel free to shoot high, even if it’s just talking dirty while you’re in the act.
