Looks like the hugely popular kinky erotica tome 50 Shades of Grey is even affecting the kind of porn people watch. Free adult entertainment site YouPorn.com reports that Grey-related search terms such as “domination,” “sex slave,” “master,” and “sadism” have skyrocketed since the novel became a household name, several months ago.
Here are a few hard stats:
- BDSM-related searches went up 67.65 percent worldwide from April to June 2012. The Country that saw the biggest increase was United Kingdom, where searches grew by 145 percent, followed by United States at 86.4 percent.
- The term “bondage” showed the biggest increase in the US with a 397 percent spike. In the UK, “sex slave” jumped 287 percent. And in Germany, the favorite was “slave,” up 52.6 percent.
