Being totally put together, with nary a lipstick smudge nor a nail polish chip, is nice for models in magazines, but in real life, sex is raw and un-Photoshopped, and that means expecting the unexpected: a strand (or many strands) of hair out of place, surprise noises, earthy scents, and…that’s pretty fantastic when you think about it.
This week, we were inspired by this quote from writer Emily McCombs, talking about what men supposedly are and aren’t attracted to in a post for xoJane:
“The human body is not a hospital. It doesn’t have to be sterile. It’s sloppy and warm and wet and real. And a woman isn’t sexy because she shows up like some sort of blank canvas for you to project your erotic desires onto.
“Women look sexy and feel sexy when they’re being themselves. If a dude is turned off by my bold lip, wait until he gets a load of my bold personality.”
Right on! So in that spirit, embrace “messy” sex this weekend. If you’re turned on when you get back from hot yoga, get on your man (or woman), girl. And if he looks hot when he’s covered in dirt after weeding the garden for two hours, that’s your cue. Enjoy every imperfect moment of your perfectly human sex life, sloppy kisses and all.
