What, no Ryan Lochte?! Pardon us as we contain our disappointment and try to act happy for Sean Lowe, rejected suitor of Bachelorette Emily Maynard, who has officially been crowned ABC TV’s next Bachelor.
Here’s what he says:
“I was standing at that rose ceremony thinking I was going to marry her,” Lowe told PEOPLE last July of the heartbreaking moment when Maynard sent him home….
On the possibility of being the next Bachelor, Lowe told PEOPLE at the time, “I’m an open-minded optimist, and I believe the process can work. If I found my wife, it would be worth it.”
We felt a bit iffy about “businessman and entrepreneur” Sean when he told Emily that he’d strung his previous girlfriend (Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Brooke Sorenson) along even when he knew he didn’t really want to marry her. Not a great testament to one’s character.
Prior to this announcement, there had been speculation that cutie Roberto Martinez, former fiancé of Bachelor contestant–turned–Bachelorette–turned cable TV host Ali Fedotowsky, or — be still our hearts — Olympic gold medalist Lochte would take up the Bachelor mantle.
The new seasons begins in January 2013. Until then, enjoy our very favorite video featuring not-so-eloquent but oh-so-handsome Lochte. Because Lord knows if Lochte were the new Bachelor, we’d have thrown a blowout premiere party replete with a neighborhood parade (floats and everything!).
