Hey, moron grooms-to-be! Stop faking death and destruction as a ruse to get your terrified girlfriends to marry you. We sincerely can’t believe another of these horror proposals, like the one where the guy faked being dead, actually took place: This time, a guy piloting a small plane pretended the engine was malfunctioning as the couple flew over Chicago, only to pop the question after she freaked. Because, you know, those things never crash in real life!

He says: “But for us it was a perfect match.”
Ha…ha…? Um, can we please just bring back the “engagement ring in a glass of champagne at a fancy restaurant” trend? Because at least that way you’d come away with a complimentary dessert rather than a lingering fear of your own mortality.
We’d like to rank the proposals we’ve previously reported on in the past (almost) two years, in order, from 1 being “awesome” to 13 being “truly horrendous.”
1. AWESOME: Guy hacks videogame to propose to girlfriend (our favorite by far — we love you, geeky chic dude)
2. Cartoonist proposes via his comic strip in a newspaper
3. Woman sends boyfriend on a Scott Pilgrim-inspired scavenger hunt ending in proposal
4. Woman proposes to man with Super Mario Brothers-inspired ring box
5. Sweet proposal near the Texas capitol building
6. Bruno Mars lip dub featuring basically every person this guy’s girlfriend has ever known
7. Bizarro proposal featuring people dressed as giant carrots
8. Proposal in Bryant Park, complete with marching band
9. Flash mob proposal, emceed by Howie Mandel
11. Stuntman pretends to fall over a building to propose to girlfriend (possibly sponsored by whatever drink this guy is holding)
12. Man fakes plane malfunction to propose to girlfriend (see above)
13. TRULY HORRENDOUS: Man fakes his own death in a car crash to propose to girlfriend
