And here we thought our local dive bars encouraged bawdy discussions. A new bar called Love Joule has just opened in Japan. But instead of liquor bottles lining the wall, there are vibrators. The idea: to get women talking about how they pleasure themselves rather than relegating female masturbation to a cultural taboo.
“[P]roprietors are calling [it] the country’s first ‘love and sex bar dedicated to women.’ Love Joule is located in the Shibuya district of Tokyo and is frequented by women who work in Japan’s sex industry. Men aren’t allowed unless they’re brought there by a woman, which is perfect because the bar’s website describes the place as ‘perfect for girls-only discussions or a date.’”
Up until now, we’ve always had our frank girlfriend-to-girlfriend talks at Babeland or Good Vibrations. But adding booze to the mix actually doesn’t sound half bad.
