Yesterday was Thanksgiving, and unless you have the self-restraint of Gandhi, you probably ate a little bit more than you intended to. Here’s why that shouldn’t inhibit your lovemaking this weekend — and in fact could super-charge it. Consider today’s Weekend Sex Challenge to be viewing that extra pound or two as an asset, not something to be embarrassed about.
If you’re feeling more curvaceous than usual, memorize this recent study’s results: A full 85 percent of men (read it again: eighty-five) said “a couple of extra pounds are fine by me.” Fifty-four percent said they think heavier women are better at sex. Chew on that.
And another one of our favorite findings, eloquently explained in Psychology Today, is that although women tend to want to emulate ultra-thin runway models, it’s Playboy models that men prefer (a.k.a. major curves).
What makes Playmates quite different from other young women is that they are much more curvaceous. The typical Playmate’s bust, waist, and hip measurements are 35-23-34. Using the difference between bust and waist, and waist and hips in relation to height, a typical Playmate is 54% more curvy than an average university undergraduate. This is what gives her the hourglass figure that men find so attractive…
In study after study, women consistently underestimate the amount of body fat that men prefer. When asked to predict the figure that men will find most attractive, women consistently choose a skinnier figure than the men actually prefer. The figures women think men prefer are more like fashion models than Playmates. (For what it’s worth, men also misjudge women’s preferences for male muscle and genital size.) The figures that the men actually prefer are also much closer to the women’s own figures than the skinnier ones women believe that men like. This misreading of men’s desires may encourage some women to mistakenly think they would be more attractive to men if they weighed less.
So if you feel you’re jiggling more than a can of jellied cranberry sauce this weekend, a.) you’re in good company and b.) we’re willing to bet your partner finds it not just easy on the eyes, but sexy as hell.
