There’s something to be said for calling a spade a spade — or a vibrator a vibrator, as it were. In a departure from the company’s umbrella “personal massager” theme for its pulsating products (even the Hitachi Magic Wand and others, as made famous by the episode of Sex and the City in which Samantha plays the Michiko Kakutani of vibrators), Brookstone is partnering with luxe vibe brand LELO to bring its customers a little up-front ecstasy.
Granted, the copy for the vibrators on the Brookstone website isn’t exactly titillating. Even the description of the LELO Alia, which looks like a sort of golden vagina egg, paints a portrait of the gadget as having “a smooth outer shell that glides gently over the skin… while near-silent vibrations from its powerful motor work to soothe and relax you. Its intuitive, fully lockable controls let you easily adjust speed and intensity.”
Soothe you where? Well, that’s up to you, of course, Brookstone customer!
Regardless of the terminology, we think that hawking these right alongside the vibrating chairs and iPad charging docks is pretty forward-thinking — not to mention discreet and convenient for women who don’t have a Babeland or Good Vibrations near them. Bravo, Brookstone.
