A love story three and a half years in the making is over for Britney Spears, who split with her fiancé/former manager Jason Trawick and gave back the $90,000 Neil Lane ring he designed for her. Some say it was because she wanted more kids but he didn’t.
But don’t shed too many tears for Brit-Brit. True, she just quit The X Factor, but she was just ranked No. 1 on Forbes‘s Top-Earning Women in Music list, and she’s in talks with Las Vegas’s Caesar’s properties to ink a bajillion-dollar deal (sources say the amount is “astronomical”) to do concerts (à la Celine Dion) in Vegas and possibly make appearances at parties. Which we think makes perfect sense — remember when she did that Live from Las Vegas HBO special back in 2001?
Here’s a weird bit of Britney gossip from the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
Offers over the years have come from the Palms and Caesars Palace.
I’m told she was interested in the Caesars deal but her husband at the time, Kevin Federline, shot it down.
Yikes. And further, here’s some interesting engagement ring trivia from TMZ that’s not Spears-specific but is interesting nonetheless:
FUN FACT: In California, the ring — which in legalese is a “gift in contemplation of marriage” — must be returned if the wedding is cancelled, UNLESS the dude is the one who called the whole thing off. If it’s a mutual break-up, or if the woman is the one who pulls the plug, the ring goes back to the guy.
Seems pretty fair to us.
Fingers crossed Britney can hold it together to sign the deal and do what (hopefully) makes her happy.
