Are you psyched for the Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries, based on the Candace Bushnell book, tonight? We are, if only to see the ’80s-fabulous fashion we know the young Carrie Bradshaw will be rocking — and to catch a glimpse of today’s SheKnows Man Candy Monday pinup Austin Butler.
AnnaSophia Robb stars as 16-year-old Carrie, who’s navigating New York City and falling for the wrong guys, in the form of proto-Mr. Big bad boy Sebastian Kydd, played by hottie Butler.
Here Sex and the City producer and Carrie Diaries creator Amy Harris’s perspective on the new show, the L.A. Times reports:
Harris tried to focus on personal, deeply relatable stories about familiar adolescent themes: sex, love, drugs and, of course, fashion.
“My hope is that the ’Sex and the City’ audience will come to enjoy a story about a character that they love and the younger audience will feel, ‘Those are the things I’m thinking and now someone’s actually saying them out loud,’” Harris says.
We’re excited to check it out. Tune in to the season premiere of The Carrie Diaries tonight at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
