19th-Century-Inspired Agent Provocateur Ads Are…Odd

Don’t get us wrong, we love ourselves some sumptuous Agent Provocateur lingerie, but their Autumn/Winter 2012 “Wilhelmina: Show Your True Self” campaign, starring Penélope Cruz’s little sister Mónica, is a tad bizarre to say the least.

Here’s the premise: A magical 19th century camera (stay with us here) captures your “true self.” in other words, it reveals you as the sexy temptress you are, rather than a buttoned-up Victorian-era lady. It gets weirder. There’s an expensive-looking video that accompanies the ghosty promotional photos. Watch below:

We normally like whatever Agent Provocateur pulls out of its hat, but this seems like overreaching, like a Sexy Marley’s Ghost theme.

But maybe we’re wrong. What do you think? Tell us in the poll below! (And we must say we’re excited for their upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 line now — is there more crazy on the horizon?)
