Feminine Odor: How to Deal
Did you know that the eye and the vagina are our bodies’ only self-cleaning organs? That means, technically, if all is well in your personal eco-system, all should be fresh and good smelling down there. And for many women, smelling good and clean in the nether region is the cornerstone of being able to feel sexy.
Jenn Ramsey offers us a reason why we sometimes have unwanted odor:
“The ‘ecosystem’ we call our vagina is just that: a delicate balance of chemicals, moisture, and good bacteria and yeast organisms that, when in balance, keep you clean and healthy. The vagina is naturally an acidic (low pH) environment, and the microorganisms that we want to be there thrive in these lower pHs.
When this delicate balance is disturbed (by eliminated too many of one type of beneficial organism or by raising the pH to make it more basic), then you have a problem… often resulting in itching, discharge, or… odor. ”
There are many causes for such imbalances, including the chemicals you put near there (soap, scented toilet paper, tampons, laundry detergent), the clothes you wear (tight jeans, wet bathing suits, nylon underwear), douching and over-washing, your lubrication (lubes with glycerin-a form of sugar-easily upset your balance), soaps and body cleansers with the improper pH balance.

Hopefully these hints will help you with any concerns you have about your private scent. But remember, as creatures, we don’t smell neutral. We smell like us. And that scent is often the cornerstone of desire, that pheromone-rich perfume, that inspires lust in your partner. Keep the odors of imbalance in check, but embrace the scents that are uniquely you!
