So if in Heathers on teen suicide led a school to go crazy for self-death in response to the attention given to victims, in modern America in a real town girls made a pregnancy pact, as one observer explained to Time magazine, because they wanted that unconditional love. Jamie Lynn Spears and a lot of young Hollywood has buns in the oven, and Juno made teen pregnancy seem rather charming. Now, our teen pregnancy rates are the highest in 15 years. What came first: teen pregnancy romanticized in the media, or the factors that contribute to the increase in teen pregnancy (like available contraceptives)?
